Is Beast of Reincarnation a soulslike?

Not exactly. Early coverage compared it to Sekiro, but director Kota Furushima has publicly pushed back on the "soulslike" label: the game has selectable difficulty and is designed so that "even people who aren't good at action games can enjoy it." It uses a hybrid of real-time katana action and command-based companion abilities, with strategy mattering as much as reflexes.

Difficulty & accessibility

Three modes — Story, Normal, Hard — all with the full game. Story Mode widens the parry window and reduces enemy damage; Hard approaches soulslike-level demand. You are not expected to retry a boss dozens of times.

Combat system (parry → FP → Blooming Arts)

Emma fights in real time with a lightweight katana (slash, parry, deflect). Successful parries generate FP, which fuels Koo's Blooming Arts — selected from a command menu that slows time. Layer in Spirit Stones (parry-triggered effects) and three skill trees each for Emma and Koo to define your playstyle.
